How this thing got started, the two Jim’s have been “best,” friends their whole life today they are both 69, and whats ironic, they both had a stroke within days of each other. Jim Kaszynski lives in Thailand and Jim Haugen lives in Texas.
ARE SOME STROKES UN-TREATABLE?
IF YOU BELIEVE THAT…YOU WILL BE RIGHT!
The whole idea of this web site is to help stroke victims. I don’t like that word “victims,” so we will call us survivors…. because, we are! We will make it through this challenge and actually make our lives better than it was before the stroke? Yes, we will prove that true. There are hundreds of sights talking about strokes but none like this one. We have no advertisements; it’s not about making money but is about making a difference in, “even one,” person’s life! We will share stories about how we turned our lives around by simple methods used by people who have bounced back even stronger than before “THAT DAY.” You will notice, that humor is an important part of our suggestions, and you will become part of our family. Remember our motto, “What I can’t do we can!”
We encourage you to send us your stories, even if you are still suffering…we have been there! If you have a friend who is now suffering, you can help; just have them tag along with us on this journey. Don’t forget to make this fun, even though we know this is very serious, but we also know a smile is more healing than most pills we may be taking.
I like what Jim Haugen says, “I feel better in my early recovery then I ever felt before this thing started, I think everyone should have a stroke, (as you can feel his big smile,) I look at life differently; the little things, are suddenly important, and the big things are….So what!” Family and friends are what it’s all about.”
A short story about Jim Haugen, on his celebration day (although, he would never call it that; when it happened,) was January 27th, 2014, he was driving, and as he said, “Everything stopped working!” No, not his car, the right side of his body, he was able to pull over to the side of the road. Fortunately, his wife was driving right behind him. You can guess what happened next; of course, we all know the first three hours are crucial to minimize the damage to the brain. As the ambulance came they knew exactly what to do before he got to the hospital.
Now this is the most important part of Jim’s recovery, even more important than the next few weeks in the hospital, of course he did the normal rehab; however, Jim always had a vision of how this would end, never expecting to stay in a wheel chair and at times, disagreeing with some doctors who prepared him for the worse. By the way, he fired one of the doctors and even one Physical therapists!! This is the most important part of his recovery; he kept saying, “YES I CAN,” now equally as important, was the support from his wife, Fran and family and friends. He has proven the power of the mind is far greater than all the doctors in the world, (of course most of them would not agree to that statement,) his energy and that of all of his support, system is restoring his body and mind.
